തെക്കു-കിഴക്കൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന, ഭൂകാണ്ഡമുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ സസ്യമാണിത്.

കോർക്ക് സ്ക്രൂ പോലുള്ള ഇലകളാണ് ഒരടിയിൽ താഴെ മാത്രം വലുപ്പം വയ്ക്കുന്ന ഈ ചെടിയുടെ പ്രത്യേകത. തറനിരപ്പിൽ നിന്നും ഉയർന്നുപൊന്തി നിൽക്കുന്ന മെഴുകു തേച്ചപോലെ തിളങ്ങുന്ന പിരിയൻ ഇലകൾ കാരണമാണ് ഇതിനെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റു ചെടി എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നത്.

വേനൽനിദ്രയിലേക്ക് കടക്കും മുമ്പേ മനോഹരങ്ങളായ മഞ്ഞപ്പൂക്കുലകൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന ഈ ഉദ്യാനസസ്യത്തെ പക്ഷേ ദീർഘകാലം വളർത്തി നിലനിർത്താൻ പ്രയാസമാണ്.

Albuca concordiana is a small geophytic perennial plant native to South-Western Africa.

It reaches 20 cm in height when in flower, and slowly offsetting to form clumps and is distinguished by corkscrew shaped waxy leaves, coiling in a rather dramatic way, which gives it the name as Whirl Wind plant.

When dormancy begins, the inflorescence appears and soon bursts open with fragrant flowers with bright yellow petals with a broad green keel coming from the side of the flower stalk. It is one of the most difficult members to cultivate successfully over an extended period
