പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ആസ്ട്രേലിയയുടെ തെക്കു പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു സ്ഥാനീയ (endemic) സസ്യമാണിത്. പച്ചയും, മഞ്ഞയും നിറത്തിലുള്ള ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ പൂക്കളാണ് ചെടിയിൽ ഉണ്ടാവുക.

ദള-വിദളങ്ങൾ മെലിഞ്ഞു നീണ്ട കാലുകൾ പോലെയാണിരിക്കുന്നത്. വിദളങ്ങളുടെ (sepals) വാലറ്റത്തായി ഗ്രന്ഥികളുമുണ്ട്. രണ്ടായി പിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന മദ്ധ്യദളത്തിന്റെ (labellum) അറ്റം ചുവപ്പ് നിറത്തിലും, അരികുകൾ ചീപ്പ് പോലെയുമാണ്. അതു കണ്ടാൽ തൊഴുകൈയ്യൻ പ്രാണികളുടെ ഇരപിടിയൻ കാലുകൾ പോലെ തോന്നും. വലുപ്പവ്യത്യാസങ്ങളുള്ള മൂന്ന് വകഭേദങ്ങൾ (sub-species) ഈ സസ്യത്തിലുണ്ട് കേട്ടോ..

Caladenia attingens is a terrestrial orchid with a single erect hairy leaf, which is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia.

There are one or two flowers on a hairy spike. The flowers are green, white and yellow with reddish-purple areas. The dorsal and lateral sepals are long and have a swollen glandular tip. The petals are spread widely and usually lack the glandular tips. Thelabellum is greenish-yellow with a red tip and four or more rows of dark red calli along its centre. The sides of the labellum bear long, green, comb-like teeth. Together it gives the appearance of a Forest Mantis, which is found in the area.

There are 3 subspecies which differ in size, distribution and habitat but are classified as “Not Threatened” by the Western Australian Government.
