മ്യാൻമാർ, തായ്‌ലൻഡ്, ലാവോസ്, വിയറ്റ്നാം എന്നീ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ മലനിരകളിൽ കാണുന്ന ഒരു അതിജീവി (epiphyte) സസ്യമാണിത്.

ക്രീം നിറത്തിൽ പർപ്പിൾ വരകളോടുകൂടിയ ഒരൊറ്റ പൂവേ ഒരു തവണ ഉണ്ടാകൂ. രോമാവൃതമായ മേൽവിദളത്തിന് (sepal) കിരീടാകൃതിയാണ്. തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ മുടി/കിരീടം പോലിരിക്കുന്നതും ഇതു തന്നെ. വളരെ നീണ്ട കാലുകൾ പോലുള്ള രണ്ടു കീഴ്ദളങ്ങൾ അന്യോന്യം ചേർന്നു നിൽക്കുന്നു.

അറ്റത്ത് പർപ്പിൾ രോമങ്ങളുള്ള മേൽദളക്കൈകളും (lateral petals), ഉദരസമാനമായ കീഴ്ദളവും, തലയുടെ സ്ഥാനത്തുള്ള ലൈംഗികഭാഗങ്ങളും ചേർന്ന് വിചിത്ര വസ്ത്രധാരിയായ ഒരു നർത്തകിയുടെ രൂപം പോലെ തോന്നിക്കുന്നു.

Bulbophyllum putidum is an epiphytic orchid found in the high altitude regions in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.

The flowers are in single. They are cream coloured with purple veins. The upper sepal is oval in shape, pointed at the tip and covered with hair on the edge, often hanging over the column like a hood. Lateral sepals are long, closer to the middle, they turn out to the other side and touch with each other, which looks like the limb. Petals are small, dark veined and spread like arms, and at the edge are covered with purple hairs, The reddish lip is crescent shaped. Together, the flower resembles a weird looking Hooded Dancer.

It is sometimes called Stinking Bulbophyllum because its showy flowers have an unpleasant odour, though it is difficult to detect unless you are up close.
